Maharaj emphasized the pivotal role that spinners are poised to play on the anticipated flat pitches during the event.

“Spinners will play a crucial role in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Wickets are getting better and boundaries are getting shorter. There is much need for a spinner in the team to provide control and variety,” said Maharaj as quoted by India Today.

Furthermore, Maharaj expressed hope that T20 platforms would afford spinners an even greater role on the international stage.

“Hopefully, these T20 platforms can give spinners even bigger role to players coming to the international stage,” Maharaj added.

Maharaj’s assertion comes on the heels of his remarkable performance in the World Cup 2023, where he showcased his prowess with the ball. Across nine matches, the left-arm spinner clinched 14 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 4.37. Notable among his performances was a standout four-wicket haul against New Zealand.
