Charlotte Dean sizzles with the ball

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, South Africa Women endured a challenging start, losing Anneke Bosch for a duck in the opening over. England’s bowlers kept the pressure high, with Lauren Bell and Dean leading the charge.

South Africa’s innings found some stability through Annerie Dercksen (19 off 12) and Sune Luus (21 off 17), but frequent wickets disrupted their momentum. Middle-order batter Nondumiso Shangase showed resilience, scoring 31 off 35, while Nadine de Klerk contributed 19 off 22. However, the hosts were bundled out for 124 in 20 overs, with Dean claiming 3 for 26. Sophie Ecclestone also impressed, conceding only 16 runs in her four overs.

The pair added 88 runs for the opening wicket, putting England in firm control. After Wyatt’s dismissal, Sophia Dunkley sealed the victory with an unbeaten 24 off 17, ensuring the visitors reached the target in just 11.3 overs. Dean’s impactful spell stood out as she dismantled South Africa’s middle order with precision. Wyatt’s attacking fifty further highlighted England’s dominance, supported by tight bowling from Bell and Ecclestone.
