The 14th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 took place between Saint Lucia Kings and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Thursday. The high-scoring clash saw Saint Lucia Kings claim a triumph with five wickets in hand.
Shadrack Descarte takes a blinder to remove Mikyle Louis
After being asked to bat first, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots went on to score 173/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Andre Fletcher was the chief destroyer, smashing 62 from just 50 deliveries, including 5 fours and a couple of sixes. Rilee Rossouw also chipped in with valuable contribution, scoring 50 off 31 balls with the help of a boundary and 5 sixes.
Though the major attention during the first innings was an incredible fielding effort from Shadrack Descarte, who took a screamer to dismiss Mikyle Louis. It all happened in the final over of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ innings bowled by Alzarri Joseph.
Joseph went for a good length delivery and the batter chipped towards deep cover. For a moment, it appeared the ball would land in no man’s land but Descarte had some other plans as ran in quickly, dived forward and took a breathtaking catch.

Johnson Charles, Faf du Plessis shine in Saint Lucia Kings win
Chasing the massive target of 174, Sain Lucia Kings went off to a perfect start as openers Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis put on a match-winning partnership. The duo took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners, setting up the foundation of a stunning successful chase. Together Johnson and Du Plessis formed a splendid partnership of 115 runs with Johnson scoring 74 off 42 while the Protes legend slamming 62 off 31. The Kings completed the chase in 16.3 overs with five wickets in hand.
