Fact Check: The reality behind the rumors

Upon investigation, It was confirmed that Rahul had not made any retirement announcement. The viral post circulating online was entirely fabricated, likely created for amusement or trolling. The original message from Rahul, stating, “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned,” is believed to be related to a brand endorsement, not his cricketing career. Even fan account of Rahul and his wife, Athiya Shetty, on X, confirmed that the rumors were false.

Despite a disappointing series against Sri Lanka and missing out on a spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Rahul’s cricketing journey is far from over. He is set to participate in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024, starting September 5, where strong performances could bolster his chances of securing a spot in Team India for the upcoming red-ball series at home and Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.
