Mohammed Siraj takes a brilliant catch in T20 World Cup 2024

USA and India are taking on each other in the 25th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first, a decision which paid off well as Indian bowlers completely dominated the proceedings.

Arshdeep Singh wreaks havoc

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh completely owned the US batting unit, exhibiting high-class bowling. Arshdeep continued his demolition job, picking up 4 wickets for a mere 9 runs, to further dismantle the American batting order. The USA were eventually restricted at 110 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Mohammed Siraj plucks a screamer

Notably, India dominated the early stages, reducing the USA to a precarious 25/3 by the 8th over. Enter Nitish Kumar, who played a vital hand in resurrecting the American innings. With two boundaries and a six, Nitish brought some much-needed momentum to the scoreboard. Just as he was building a crucial partnership with Corey Anderson, disaster struck.

Nitish misjudged a pull shot off Arshdeep, but what seemed destined for another six was met by a remarkable leap from Mohammed Siraj at the long-on boundary. Siraj timed his jump to perfection, plucking the ball out of thin air with a sensational grab. The dismissal proved to be a turning point, as the vital partnership was broken, and India tightened their grip on the match.

Nitish’s valiant knock of 27 runs, the highest score for the USA, was ultimately overshadowed by Siraj’s athletic effort. Apart from Arshdeep, all-rounder Hardik Pandya also shined with the ball, taking a couple of wickets in his quota of 4 overs while conceding 14 runs, including a maiden.
