Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 14 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at their home ground in Wankhede Stadium. The fortune, however, didn’t change for MI as they lost the contest by 6 wickets, marking their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal dominate with the ball

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Rajasthan Royals put up a stellar performance to restrict the Mumbai Indians to a modest total of 125/9 in their allotted 20 overs. The Mumbai Indians’ innings got off to a shaky start with early wickets falling, including the dismissals of key players Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for ducks.

However, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya steadied the ship with contributions of 32 and 34 runs respectively. Despite their efforts, the Mumbai Indians struggled to accelerate, managing only 125 runs at the end of their innings. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal were exceptional with the ball for the Royals, picking up crucial wickets to keep the Mumbai Indians’ scoring in check.

Riyan Parag leads Rajasthan Royals to splendid win

In response, the Rajasthan Royals chased down the target comfortably, reaching 127/4 in just 15.3 overs. Riyan Parag was the star of the show for the Royals, smashing a brilliant half-century with 54 runs off 39 deliveries, supported by valuable contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

For the Mumbai Indians, Akash Madhwal was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three crucial wickets, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the Royals from securing victory. Despite some resistance from the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers, Rajasthan Royals sealed the win with six wickets in hand.
