Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 15 of IPL 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday, April 2. The toss favoured RCB, who elected to bowl first.
A competitive total set by LSG
Lucknow Super Giants posted a formidable total of 181/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Quinton de Kock was the standout performer with the bat, smashing 81 runs off 56 deliveries, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. He received valuable support from Nicholas Pooran, who contributed a blistering 40 off 21 balls, comprising 1 four and 5 sixes. Despite some early setbacks, Lucknow’s middle order stabilized the innings, ensuring a challenging target for the opposition.
Bowling figures for RCB pacers were decent, with Reece Topley, Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj each claiming a wicket, albeit at the cost of some runs. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with 2 crucial wickets to restrict the scoring rate.
Mayank Yadav troubles RCB batters
In response, the home team struggled to chase down the target and were eventually bowled out for 153 runs in 19.4 overs. Despite contributions from Rajat Patidar (29 runs off 21 balls) and Mahipal Lomror (33 runs off 13 balls), RCB fell 28 runs short of the required target.
Fast bowler Mayank Yadav once again starred with the ball for LSG, wreaking havoc in the Bengaluru batting lineup with figures of 3 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs. Naveen ul Haq also impressed, claiming 2 crucial wickets to dismantle the opposition’s lower-middle order.
