LSG defeated GT in Match 21 of IPL 2024

In the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday. Exhibiting a clinical display in front of their home crowd at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, LSG emerged victorious, defeating Gujarat by a margin of 33 runs.

Marcus Stoinis powers LSG to a competitive total

After winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants elected to bat first. The Super Giants started cautiously with openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul setting the foundation. However, it was Marcus Stoinis who stole the show with a brilliant half-century, scoring 58 runs off 43 balls.

Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni also contributed significantly with quickfire knocks. Lucknow Super Giants posted a competitive total of 163/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Krunal Pandya, Yash Thakur impress with sublime bowling

In pursuit of 164 runs, Gujarat Titans got off to a decent start with contributions from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. However, it was the sensational performance of Yash Thakur that turned the tide in favor of the Lucknow Super Giants. Thakur’s devastating spell of bowling yielded him an impressive 5 wickets, while conceding 30 runs in 3.5 overs. His ability to consistently pick up wickets rattled the Gujarat Titans’ batting line-up and played a pivotal role in his team’s victory.

Krunal Pandya also made significant contributions with the ball, scalping 3 wickets for a mere 11 runs in his 4 overs. His economical bowling and crucial breakthroughs further enhanced the pressure on the opposition. Despite efforts from Rahul Tewatia, Gujarat Titans fell short, getting bowled out for 130 runs in 18.5 overs.
