The upcoming T20 World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 1, with matches set to be held in the USA and West Indies. This marks the first occasion that West Indies will host this prestigious tournament. With 20 countries participating, this year’s event promises to be the pinnacle of T20 cricket.
To promote cricket in the American region, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed sprint legend Usain Bolt as the Brand Ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, Bolt is renowned as the fastest man on Earth, having clinched three gold medals in sprinting at three consecutive Olympic Games from 2008 to 2016.

Bolt exuded enthusiasm upon his appointment as the brand ambassador for this monumental event. Expressing his delight, he conveyed his excitement at the opportunity to serve as ambassador and also lauded cricket, stating that the sport holds a special place in his heart.
“I am thrilled to be an ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Coming from the Caribbean where cricket is a part of life, the sport has always held a special place in my heart,” said Bolt in an ICC media release.
Opening up on his favourite team for the upcoming tournament, the Jamaican athlete stated that he would be backing West Indies to claim the trophy.
“While I will be supporting West Indies at the WC, getting the sport into the US is big for cricket. It’s the biggest sports market in the world, stated Bolt.
“The energy that we will bring for the T20 World Cup is a huge opportunity leading towards cricket’s inclusion in the LA Olympics in 2028,” the 37-year-old added.

West Indies in T20 World Cup
West Indies boasts a formidable legacy in T20 cricket and has lifted the trophy twice in 2012 and 2016, making them the joint record-holders alongside England. With this illustrious history, the Men in Maroon are anticipated to enter the tournament with great confidence.
This event marks the first ICC men’s cricket tournament held in the Caribbean islands in over 14 years. The home team possesses a roster of top-notch players, including formidable power hitters and bowlers well-suited to the home conditions. While West Indies has not officially announced its squad, it is almost clear that Rovman Powell will lead the team in this tournament.
