Watson’s admiration for the Indian opening duo was evident as he lauded their composure and impeccable technique. In a chat with Star Sports, he stated, “There is no question there. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. It’s like they’re playing a different game, it’s like the game slowed down.”

Watson, known for his explosive batting and all-round abilities during his playing career, went on to highlight the unique aspect of Rohit and Gill’s batting, emphasizing that their technique allows them to handle bowlers who consistently bowl at speeds exceeding 150 kilometers per hour.

“Most other batters feel rushed when they face bowlers delivering at such high speeds. They look rushed, but these guys just get into position effortlessly. Their technique is so good that they appear to have much more time than all other batters in the world,” the 42-year-old explained.

The Queenslander emphasized how the pair can effortlessly play shots to any part of the ground, showcasing their versatility as batters. “And the array of shots that they can just play wherever they want to hit it. They really are a treat to be able to watch and it’s something I’m looking forward to watching for the rest of this World Cup,” he added.
