Sehwag's remark on Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma‘s scintillating knock of 131 against Afghanistan in Match 9 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 sent shockwaves through the cricketing world. The Indian skipper showcased his remarkable talent and determination, breaking several records during his memorable innings. One of the most noteworthy records he achieved was surpassing the long-standing record of the Most Sixes in International Cricket.

Rohit’s remarkable feat in this match made him the new record-holder with 556 sixes in international cricket. He overtook the previous record held by the West Indian batting sensation Chris Gayle, who had 553 sixes to his name.

The right-handed batter’s ability to consistently clear the boundary with finesse and power has established him as one of the most dominant forces in modern-day cricket. It’s important to highlight that the Mumbai-born cricketer has been consistently outspoken about his desire to adopt an aggressive playing style and fully capitalize on the powerplay overs.

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opening batter, commended Rohit for setting a remarkable example through his aggressive style of cricket leadership, especially during his special batting display against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

‘It takes guts’: Virender Sehwag

Sehwag made an insightful comment about Rohit, highlighting his record-breaking performances and fearless leadership. He emphasized that the right-handed batter consistently sets and surpasses records, even while achieving three double-hundreds, he was focusing on enjoying his time at the crease.

Furthermore, Sehwag pointed out that Rohit’s incredible achievement of seven centuries in just 19 innings underscores his exceptional class as a cricketer.

“What to say about his records. Whenever he plays, he keeps on breaking them. even when he scored his three double-hundreds, he said that he was just out there enjoying his batting. He had also given the statement that he would lead from the front and play aggressively. he claimed that he would take the bowlers on. It takes guts to talk in public, especially when you are the captain. He took just 19 innings to reach seven hundreds and that shows the class of the player,” Sehwag said during a discussion on Cricbuzz.
