As Ashwin returned to the attack in the 15th over, Warner once again donned the right-handed stance and attempted to execute a reverse sweep, but he was deceived with the carrom ball and eventually given out Leg Before Wicket (LBW) by the umpire. In a moment of spontaneity, Warner chose not to review the decision and walked back to the pavilion. However, the post-dismissal replays revealed an interesting twist in the tale. There was a clear edge off Warner’s bat before the ball made contact with his pads, but it was too late until then as he failed to review the decision.

Apart from this curious episode, the Holkar Cricket Stadium witnessed a high-scoring and entertaining match. Asked to bat first, India’s top order, led by Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, set the stage for a remarkable innings. Gill scored a brilliant 104 runs and dominated the preceding with his elegant batting show. Meanwhile, Iyer (105) showcased his class and composure with a sensational hundred as well. Suryakumar Yadav‘s explosive 72 off 37 balls and KL Rahul’s 52 off 38 balls played a vital role in bolstering the innings further and pushed India’s final score to an imposing 399/5.

In response to this daunting target, Australia struggled to establish partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. While Warner and Sean Abbott showed some resistance with scores of 53 and 54, the Indian bowlers remained relentless. Ashwin bagged three crucial wickets for the Men in Blue in his seven overs. On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna and Jadeja also made vital contributions with two and three wickets as Australia were eventually bowled out for 217.
