Zim Afro T10 2023 came to a thrilling conclusion with the final clash between Joburg Buffaloes and Durban Qalanders at Harare Sports Club. The tension was high as both teams battled it out for the prestigious tournament title. Durban Qalanders held their nerves and won the contest by 8 wickets to lift the coveted trophy.
Put in to bat, Joburg Buffaloes set a competitive total of 127/4 in their allotted 10 overs. Their innings was anchored by some impressive performances from their batsmen. Mohammad Hafeez played a blistering knock, scoring 32 runs off just 13 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Tom Banton also contributed significantly with a quickfire 36 runs off 17 deliveries, smashing 2 fours and 3 sixes. Yusuf Pathan and Ravi Bopara chipped in with valuable contributions of 25 and 22 runs, respectively.
For Durban Qalanders, their bowlers tried to contain the flow of runs, but wickets proved elusive. Tayyab Abbas and George Linde were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming a wicket and conceding 26 and 22 runs, respectively.

Chasing 128 runs for victory, Durban Qalanders exhibited an explosive batting display, reaching the target with 4 balls to spare, totaling 129/2 in 9.2 overs. The highlight of their innings was the impressive performance of Hazratullah Zazai, who was the standout player of the match.
Zazai played a stunning knock, scoring 43 runs off just 22 balls, laced with 1 four and 4 sixes. His aggressive approach provided a solid foundation for the chase. Tim Seifert and Andre Fletcher also made significant contributions with 30 and 29 runs, respectively.

Joburg Buffaloes’ bowlers struggled to defend the total, with Usman Shinwari being the most successful, taking 2 wickets for 15 runs in his 2 overs. However, their efforts were not enough to stop the rampaging Durban Qalanders.
Zazai’s outstanding performance earned him the well-deserved ‘Player of the Match’ award for his game-changing knock.
